ORIGINS
Origins
Sunlake originated in 2014 as an informal vehicle for business colleagues and friends to make private equity investments. With roots in the Great Lake State (Michigan) and the Sunshine State (Florida) the company vehicle took on the name, Sunlake.
Formal Inception
Sunlake began formal operations from Miami, Florida in 2017 as a independent private equity sponsor with a differentiated model.
Formation of Unique Industry Focus
Sunlake's founder recognized an opportunity to eschew a conventional, industry-generalist approach to private equity investing. Stemming from an original idea to invest in security systems and personnel, Sunlake adopted a dedicated focus on the security industry and a minor focus in select other areas.
Value-Add Capital
Investment capital is provided by Sunlake Principals, aligned family offices, and value-add institutional investors. Sunlake works with a limited number of investors that are passionate or historically involved in the areas in which it invests. By design, Sunlake's smaller, more involved investor groups remove the need and distraction of conventional fundraising activities or fund management.
Companies, Not Funds
Operating companies are the primary focus and assets of Sunlake, and no aspiration exists to raise a conventional private equity fund. Sunlake was designed to invest long-term in a limited number of platform companies that grow to independently fund and sustain acquisitions and organic growth initiatives.
First Platform Company
In 2018 Sunlake and its partners established PPS as a platform business to invest in security personnel businesses in the U.S. and Canada.

After years of dedicated focus in security, Sunlake has built a nexus of relationships, experience, and operating assets that have made it a leading investor in the broader security industry.

Sunlake relocated to West Palm Beach, Florida.
